"This is a song inspired by online life during the covid lockdowns in Victoria, the longest lockdowns in the world, which I absolutely loved, despite how weird socialising mostly online can be. The song talks about people misinterpreting other peoples comments and intentions because of
a lack of nuances and humanity in text based communication, and how I learnt to not bother getting involved in online arguments.
This song only existed as the chorus line before fleshing it out in the studio."

lyrics
Socially and emotionally distant
put a mask on my mask who is it
play inside my house all day
who is this guy who always in my room
communication it get less clearer
lean in close you might hear the spirit
you can't hear me on the phone
got an echo chamber turned down for the neighbour
smile in my mask to no one
smile at my phone at home
I'm a simulacrum
a simulation
I live inside your screen
live inside your mind
the disembodied words
with intentions
made by your preconceptions
what is real
cover my mouth
the world don't need another misinformed opinion
what is real
I don't need to weigh in
I got my lane to stay in
gonna keep my distance
social and emotional
not a cootie on me
so clean
living inside i hide behind the screen
lockdown
a lockyboomboomdown
spending most of the week with the ghost in the machine
getting older and shoulder getting colder
stay holed up in my abode and stay sober
i don't wanna get involved and so
put an F in the comments and wait for the told you so's
they say silence is violence i say silence is golden tho
some of you need to shut the fuck up and hold the phone
I'm just here for the dank memes and pussycats
maybe order some pank jeans and stussy hats
or a chav tracksuit gadzooks the algorithm got me on a mad loop (well look at that)
I grow more loveable more stubble it don't stop
no trouble in my bubble my bubble it won't pop
still a hermit with the permit the permit it won't stop
? turning the hermit lifestyle to tip top
I'm a simulacrum
a simulation
I live inside your screen
live inside your mind
the disembodied words
with intentions
made by your preconceptions
what is real
cover my mouth
the world don't need another misinterpreted opinion
what is real
I don't need to weigh in
I got my lane to stay in
gonna keep my distance
social and emotional
social and emotional distance
got a mask on top of my mask new phone who dis
never leave the house erry day
who the hell is this fella who always hangin round in my room
muffled and mumbled and less clearer
lean in close yeah that's the spirit
you cant feel me on the phone
in an echo chamber turn it down for the neighbour
smiling in my mask at no one
smiling in the comment section
Socially and emotionally distant
put a mask on my mask who is it
play inside my house all day
who is this guy who always in my room
communication it get less clearer
lean in close you might hear the spirit
you can't hear me on the phone
got an echo chamber turned down for the neighbour
smile in my mask to no one
smile at my phone at home

This was not what I expected! I thought this was a pop group (first time hearing this band) but I had to eat my hat because this band defies genre. The vocalist reminds me a little of kpop (and maybe 2010 Sleigh Bells if that makes sense), I happen to like both so thought that was cool. If you are a fan of complex piano layers and brass check this out! Also, the bassist and drummer are insane in here. I choked hearing one of the riffs it was that good! nvan92

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
